ABOUT THE ARTIST

“I have been creative all my life! The desire to change the world around me and make it more cheerful and beautiful is woven into my art. My subject matter is bright, colorful and laced with whimsey.

Whether it is a landscape, an animal or flower painting, I want it to tell a story. Joy, delight, and curiosity to see more are the feelings I hope to share with my readers as they explore my illustration.

I use traditional materials, acrylic, gouache, ink, colored pencil & modeling paste with brush on various surfaces including paper, canvas, wood, and glass to capture movement and life in my creations.

I find the intricate details and patterns in the world around us inspiring. My painting style is a blend of new elements combined with a retro influence. My goal is to inspire those who see my work to look more carefully at the world around them, to discover interest and beauty in the smallest details.

I live in the beautiful state of Washington, near Seattle. When I’m not creating in my studio, I can often be found gardening and restoring my 1886 Gothic Victorian home, which I share with my adorable corgi, Herbie, and two crazy cats, Uhtred and Stella Fluffanella. I love music, books, road trips, adventuring to foreign lands, and spending time with my fun family. My favorite ice cream is black licorice.”
